Blinding Heat
Heat is all I feel,
and righteous indignation compels the exercise of justice.
Fire rises from the ground,
and the eyes of murder direct their glance at its enemy.
Dazing heat of anger—I neither thirst nor taste,
nor think nor hear.
Shut in, yet menacing,
like a lion waiting to pounce.
Let no one come after me,
for I will devour them too.
O, this wrath of mine,
what depths it plunges me into,
what loneliness it leaves.
Yet I must remain in this cage.
To exercise it is the height of all pleasure.
It knows no bounds,
and if there were no consequence,
I would lick my lips
and abandon myself to it.
To hold back,
and yet desire everything to burn,
is painful and heavy work.
A beast possesses me,
and it calls forth my hands, raised up.
Cool it,
lest you destroy yourself.
I can hardly breathe.
I feel I will explode.
